Accessibility
What we have done, what we know is imperfect, and how to tell us when something is in your way.

What we aim for
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.2 at level AA across the whole site, including the reading tool and the printable card.
What that means in practice
- Body text is at least 4.5:1 against its background everywhere, and most of it is far above that.
- Colour is never the only way anything is communicated. The five printing methods each carry a hatch pattern and a written label as well as a colour, and none of the five colours implies a rank.
- The whole site works from a keyboard, in a visible order, with a focus outline that is easy to see and a skip link to the main content.
- The one animation on the site — the light travelling across the hero photograph — is replaced automatically by a static pair of images when your system asks for reduced motion. Nothing is lost by turning motion off.
- The comparison of the five methods stays a comparison at every screen size. It never collapses into showing one method at a time.
- Images that carry information have descriptive alternative text. Decorative textures are marked as decorative so a screen reader skips them.
- Tables have captions and proper row and column headers, and the wash-limit card prints in black and white with the verdict written out as a word.
- Text can be resized to 200% without loss of content or function.
Where we know we fall short
The five-method comparison table has to scroll sideways on a narrow screen. We consider that the lesser problem — a carousel would defeat the task, which is telling five things apart — but a horizontal scroll is still work for some people, and we are looking for a better answer.
Photographs of print surfaces are described in text, but a description of a surface texture is a poor substitute for seeing it. We are working on better descriptions rather than pretending this one is solved.
Tell us
If something on this site is in your way, email support@teeponyu.shop with the page and what happened. We treat accessibility reports as bugs, not as feedback, and we will tell you what we are doing about it.
If you need a read in a different format — large print, plain text, or read out over the phone on +44 370 755 5088 — ask and we will provide it at no extra cost.
